A late rally by the RailRiders wasn’t enough as they fell to Pawtucket, 5-4 on Monday night at PNC Field.

SWB and the Red Sox split the four-game set, while the loss drops the RailRiders to 36-40 this season. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre still holds a 5-3 advantage in the season series versus Pawtucket. The next meeting between the teams is July 25-28 in Moosic.

RailRiders at the plate: Jose Pirela and Kyle Roller each homered. Roller also had a single, while Taylor Dugas added a pair of singles. Zelous had his nine-game hitting streak end as he went 0 for 2, but reached base twice via hit by pitch and a walk.

RailRiders on the mound: Jeremy Bleich had one bad inning when he allowed five runs on six hits in the fifth inning. Before that, he only gave up one hit. With the loss, Bleich’s record falls to 0-2. Jim Miller pitched the next 2 1/3 perfect innings, while Heath Bell worked two scoreless innings only giving up a single and a walk.
