The RailRiders picked up their third straight win to close out a nine-game homestand on Friday night at PNC Field by knocking off Rochester, 5-1 to sweep the three-game series and win for the fourth time in five games.

RailRiders at the plate: Austin Romine continued his hot streak going 3 for 4 and is now 11 for his last 20 spanning seven games. Jose Pirela also went 3 for 4 with a double, single, two runs scored and an RBI. Taylor Dugas added an RBI-double.

RailRiders on the mound: Jairo Heredia had his best outing as a RailRider getting the start and going five innings allowing just one run on six hits to earn his first career Triple-A victory. Switch-pitcher Pat Venditte relieved Heredia by pitching two-plus scoreless innings and worked out of a bases-loaded no out jam in the top of the seventh.

Riding the Rails: The RailRiders played on Friday with two less players as they lost a pair when right-hander Eric Ruth was reassigned to Low-A Charleston and fellow righty Matt Daley was recalled by the Yankees. To make room for Daley on New York’s roster, Jim Miller was designated for assignment.
