NORFOLK, Va. — Scranton/Wilkes-Barre entered Tuesday night’s game at Norfolk with just 14 home runs all season in 32 games.

The most homers the RailRiders hit in a game was two, which was done twice with one of those game being two longballs by one player.

SWB broke out of its home run slump on Tuesday at Harbor Park and rehabbing Yankee Chris Capuano picked up the win on the mound as the RailRiders hung on for a 4-3 win over the Tides.

Capuano, making his second rehab appearance for the RailRiders, tossed six innings allowing two runs on seven hits. The lefty didn’t walk any batters and fanned two. He threw 76 pitches, a few more than his outing last week at PNC Field, with 55 of them getting over the plate for strikes.

Capuano allowed the first two Norfolk batters of the game to reach base, and Henry Urrutia scored Norfolk’s first run when the first out was recorded. The other inning where he gave up a run was the fourth when two of the first three batters reached and one scored on a sacrifice fly.

Luckily for Capuano, he was helped by his offense, which was swinging for the fences.

Kyle Roller’s two-run shot in the top of the first put the RailRiders in front 2-0.

In the top of the fourth, the RailRiders hit back-to-back homers for the first time this season, and they came from perhaps two of the most unlikely sources.

Cole Figueroa hit his first home run in exactly one year and one day since he played for Durham and went deep on May 11, 2014, at PNC Field against the RailRiders to lead off the top of the fourth. Catcher Austin Romine went deep three pitches later, extending the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre lead to 4-1 with his second homer of the season.

RailRiders righty Nick Rumbelow got in trouble in the ninth, giving up a run on a sacrifice fly and two hits, but stranded a pair of runners on as the RailRiders notched the win.

The series with the Tides wraps up this afternoon at 12:05 when SWB lefty Matt Tracy (0-0, 4.50) faces left-hander Chris Jones (0-1, 3.06).
