After reading Steve Corbett’s column (“Trooper’s ‘humor’ degrading,” July 30), I feel I had to respond.

State Police Trooper Tom Kelly’s “humor,” Steve, was just that, humor. It certainly isn’t backward Pennsylvania humor; we are not backward people in the Wyoming Valley.

Ethnic jokes of all kinds have been circulating here, and elsewhere, forever. They are just that – jokes!

Are people really that thin-skinned anymore? Maybe it’s time to laugh at ourselves instead of being so politically correct. Enough is enough.

We should be thanking Trooper Kelly for his service instead of painting him as something he is not.

Give me a break.
