I keep getting these political fliers from America Works telling me to tell my state representative to pass a budget to spend more money. They are very colorful mailings and must cost a fortune to send out. Guess the senders are in line to make a bundle on higher government spending.

So, like the flier instructed, I called my representative and this is what I said.

If property tax is not made illegal totally, I do not support any other tax increase. You know that even if the politicians give you a break on your property tax now, there is no doubt that it will be increased to even higher levels than it is now over time. Probably the increase will be in a year or two. Politicians view tax increases as drug addicts view increased drug use.

There are many people on fixed incomes who have not had a raise in a few years. They struggle to make it on what they get and budget accordingly. To ask them to pay more is just sick. Some of the new proposals from Harrisburg will tax nursing home payments, burial expenses, day care for adults and children, and so on. That is sick, to say the least.

So the governor wants to bleed the people more so that we can throw more money at schools. We rank as the highest cost per student in the world and yet we are at the very bottom of the list on scholastic achievement. We have been throwing more money at schools for at least the last 40 years, and look what it got us. We have many college students who think Judge Judy is on the Supreme Court.

Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. The governor wants to take the tax money he gets from these increases and not give it to the local districts that paid the tax. He wants to send it to his base in Philadelphia.

Let’s make the governor live within our means like the rest of us. Thanks for stopping this insanity.
