Regarding the article on Chelsea Clinton coming to Jackson Township for a fundraising event, I hope her car or limo travels over the Luzerne County section of Chase Road between Hillside Road and Chase Corner (intersection of Chase and Huntsville roads) so they can enjoy the jaw-rattling and car-wrecking ride we endure every day.

With all due respect to the hosts of this event, it is unfortunate that our infrastructure is falling apart, our state does not have an adopted budget, school buildings are deficient, people are living below the poverty level and are hungry, while people of privilege are globetrotting, wining and dining, and raising and spending millions “buying” elective offices (and influence).

Individually, we might not be able to do much to fix misplaced priorities, but we do have the ability to show the reality of our world without sanitizing the ugly and unsavory. Isn’t it possible to put funds raised for political activities to much better use for the common good of all citizens?

I suggest Chelsea and entourage not only be driven over the lower section of Chase Road, but also stop by the Irem Temple on North Franklin Street. Perhaps providing a copy of Bill O’Boyle’s column on Feb. 6 (“Time running out for Irem Temple”) will elicit a substantial donation from the Clinton Foundation or proceeds from some speeches toward the restoration of this once spectacular building.
