I was out of the area for a while. My wife and my aunt informed me advertisements had been placed in our local newspapers stating negative things about ManorCare in Kingston.

I have been there 18 times as a resident for therapy. After receiving disability as a teacher, I never anticipated having such physical problems. I have been in patient therapy four places in Northeastern Pennsylvania, one in Atlantic City, three in North Carolina and two in Williamsport.

I have looked and listened all these times at ManorCare and seen nothing but positives.

Recently, I received some unpleasant news about a critical disease I have. ManorCare’s employees have been concerned and caring and offered what they can. This has raised my spirituality higher than it has been.

In the past, I have praised ManorCare on the editorial pages, mentioning specific departments, workers, etc. But this letter is about defending the Manor Care family community. Health care givers by and large are overworked, underpaid, but have the joy in their heart for helping others.

Workers leaving ManorCare going down Pierce Street can view a biblical saying on Temple B’nai B’rith. I believe it refers to them. “He has showed us what is good,” states Micah 6:8. “And all the Lord asks of you is do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with thy God.” Truly all who work here seem to strive to fulfill God’s work.

As a former teacher and pretty good judge of nursing homes, Manor Care gets an A+++.

To the negative advertisers, take off your blinders. Look for good and God in everyone.
