On June 10, Zoe Erin Lambert graduated from Wyoming Valley West High School.

It has been 13 years of school in between more than 30 surgeries, and hundreds of days of hospital stays and medical procedures. But she never gave up. No matter what she was going through, no matter how painful, Zoe continued the climb – always with her focus on the finish line and her diploma.

On May 25, Zoe was honored with the school district’s Spartan Inspiration Award. To applause and cheers, she stood on that stage, so surprised and humbled, as they honored her for her determination, hard work and perseverance. It was a night to remember.

Zoe’s life is still “one day at a time.” Though her battles are many, she never gives up. And when life is unkind, she tries to put it behind her and concentrate on the good. She truly is an inspiration to our family.

Zoe has a world of educational opportunity ahead of her. However, because she recently had a drop in her lung function, now at 24 percent, Zoe has decided to take a rest. She will take this year to concentrate on her love of art, and then see where life leads her.

Zoe thanks you all for the encouragement to her and to our family. The thoughts and the prayers throughout these many years have been a blessing beyond words.
