Over the past five years, I have been in numerous hospitals and nursing homes (for therapy) from the Carolinas to New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I have seen great caregivers who work long hours, receive little pay, but give all they have.

Recently, I was diagnosed with a terminal disease and also lost my ability to walk. On two occasions I was sent to the Kingston Health Care Center on Third Avenue. Compared to the many, many other centers, it is small; but every worker there has the biggest, caring heart that I ever experienced.

Its nurses and aides are one of the blessings of being ill. They might not be angels, but they are the next best thing.

The dietary staff provides good food and special service. A special thanks goes to Margaret. Ed, of maintenance, keeps the place running. The grounds are immaculate; the cleaning staff keeps everything so clean and neat.

The therapists, Rita, Dave and Melissa, got me walking again. The occupational therapy and physical therapy are the best.

Kim, the administrator, has a hands-on approach, caring for the residents and always being there for the staff.

There are two keystones that really hold the center together: Mike, in admissions, and Cathy. Cathy is the greatest social worker I ever encountered. They both are knowledgeable and very caring.

Everyone there has compassion and love.

Lewis Carroll wrote, “One of the deep secrets of life is that all that is worth doing is what we do for others.”

You don’t know the spiritual uplift you gave me. Thank you, and God bless you all.
