My conservative friends feel betrayed by the Republican establishment.

As I look at their rationale, they have good reason to feel betrayed with the new Obamacare Light. We all do. When running for president, Donald Trump made a few promises about Obamacare.

Remember this one? He said he would repeal Obamacare on Day One and replace it with something terrific.

Now, Trump says he is “proud” to support a GOP-authored plan to replace Obamacare, and he told the GOP leaders behind closed doors that he would support it “100 percent,” according to sources in the room. This will signify the end of trust for the Trump administration.

There is one big problem with this. Republicans, who most conservatives do not trust at all, have no plan to ever repeal the 2,700 pages of legislation and 20,000 pages of regulations in Obamacare.

They lied to get elected as they lied when they needed the House and then the Senate to “get things done,” and then said that was not enough. Now, they have the presidency, and they are lying again. They have no plans to repeal Obamacare. Day One is long past.

The GOP plan merely takes government control of healthcare from the Democrats and turns it over to Republicans. Conservatives want the government out of the healthcare business. What part of the word “repeal” do Republicans not understand.

A promise is a promise. A repeal is a repeal.

Trump should not take the good will of the people for granted.
