What the Dallas School District labor dispute needs right now is an end to statements to the press.

You cannot negotiate in the newspaper or any other media. The school board should know this, as should the union.

Teaching is a great profession.

Why are teachers being criticized? They are hard-working people.

The constant statements that they only work for six months of the year is baloney. They take partial pay each pay period to last throughout the year. They are just looking for a new contract for a few years.

Look at the rankings of the district’s schools compared to others in the state. They are always among the highest rated. This is what you want for your children.

Let’s all wake up, and let the two sides talk.

I have been a party to quite a few negotiations. You don’t negotiate with wild statements to the public.

I also want to add that I am not a teacher.
