I am writing this letter asking you to remember a few things this upcoming Election Day.
There are currently four council members running for re-election in Larksville.
They are:
• Joseph Gimble, a veteran and current member of Larksville American Legion Post 655.
• Tracy Baird, the daughter of past commander and current member of the Larksville American Legion Post 655 Wayne Nichol.
• Joseph Romanoskey, a current Sons of the American Legion member of Larksville American Legion Post 655 and the son of past commander of Larksville American Legion Post 655 Stanley Romanoskey.
• John Pekarovsky, a current Sons of the American Legion member of Larksville American Legion Post 655.
I’ve been at the polls for over 20 years and on Election Day there is one saying I hear quite often: “Out with the old and in with the new.” This might hold true if you’re buying a new car, refrigerator or sofa. However, if you applied this theory on Election Day, this is what you may or may not get.
You may potentially lose one of the four members that has fought over the past several years to ensure no tax increases for borough residents and who work tireless with several agencies to get grants to resolve an ongoing sewer problem on Larksville Mountain, members who worked hard to get the borough the new cellphone tower, which proves much-needed income for Larksville, and to secure grants with which they were able to get a new police cruiser and new recycling truck.
Larksville Council also works closely with the police department. This is evident when you hear the positive feedback about the police.
I am asking that everyone use due diligence and make an informed decision when voting. New is not always the answer.
