I would like to extend a note of gratitude to the wonderful organizations in our area for sponsoring fundraisers to benefit worthy causes that deserve our attention.

Just to mention a few:

The Johnathan Grula Memorial Foundation that is active in pediatric cancer research and also aids children with cancer through the Four Diamonds Fund in Hershey. The foundation is in honor of Jonathan Grula who lost his battle with leukemia. Another society is the Social Concerns Committee from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Swoyersville which donates time and commodities to residential programs.

A new fundraiser has made its way onto that calendar. The Friends of the Hoyt Library recently sponsored a Designer Purse Bingo at the Swoyersville Hose Company. The chairperson along with volunteer members orchestrated the project with expert insight. With education at a forefront, the Hoyt Library offers our area a constant opportunity to be active through various programs all year long. The Hoyt Library raises money and awareness to ensure a first-class public library that’s available to the entire West Side community.

There is a considerable amount of social groups in our vicinity that offer an evening or afternoon of fun and unity with friends and neighbors while bringing support to moral issues that affect our state. If you cannot attend any of the functions, you can donate toward the project by contacting the committee running the fundraiser. Offering a gift basket, baked goods or the ever-popular monetary gift is always acceptable.

Kudos to the members of charitable organizations for making our world a better place.
