I’m a registered Republican who has friends that voted for President Donald Trump.

They felt we needed someone to “shake up” Washington — a businessman who could get things done and make deals. They believed his promises, instead of using critical thinking and studying his past behaviors.

They knew he was disrespectful and dishonest because they were familiar with the sales scams used for Trump University, and the way he reacted to women and the handicapped, and anyone else who criticized him. They held their noses and voted for him hoping he would “Make America Great Again”.

Now, they realize they voted for someone who only thinks of himself and wants to change our democratic form of government into a banana Republic.

Finally, after Trump’s criticism of one of his earliest and most loyal supporters, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and his youth rally with the Boy Scouts, many Republican congressmen are now criticizing him for his irrational, self-destructive and un-American behavior.

We are all beginning to realize how dysfunctional his presidency has been. If Washington is going to get anything done, the Republicans are going to have to work with the Democrats. Unfortunately, gerrymandering is the reason why that may not happen, because congressmen from gerrymandered districts only seek to get approval of the far left or far right in order to get re-elected. Therefore, everyone must contact their state legislators and encourage them to pass Senate Bill 22 and House Bill 722 to create fair districts in Pennsylvania.
