Mountain View defeated Lackawanna Trail, 10-9, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 baseball game May 12 in Kingsley. Jared Phillips led the Lions with two hits and four RBIs. Nick Rolka contributed two hits and two RBIs and Vic Mallory had two hits and an RBI for Trail.

Comets claim division title

Zach Spangenberg had three hits and an RBI to lead Abington Heights to a 5-2 win over Valley View in the Lackawanna League Division 1 championship baseball game May 13 in Throop. Tyler Ksiazek added three hits for the Comets and Ryan Harvey got the win on the mound.

Mounts end Cavs season

Dallas defeated Scranton Prep, 9-5, in the first round of the District 2 Class 3A baseball playoffs May 15 in Dallas. Nate Fiala, Justin Belardi, and Robert Pfleckl each drove in a run for Prep.

Allison Decker had two hits and three RBIs to lead Lackawanna Trail over Mountain View, 14-6, in a Lackawanna League Division 4 softball game May 12 in Kingsley. Kerrigan Buck added four hits and two RBIs for Trail.

Classics top ‘Paupack

Jessica Regan drove in two runs to lead Scranton Prep over Wallenpaupack, 5-1, in a Lackawanna League softball crossover game May 13 in Scranton. Ilissa Hamilton added two hits and an RBI. Hamilton also picked up the win on the mound by allowing four hits and striking out seven batters.

Lady Trojans end Classics season

North Pocono defeated Scranton Prep, 10-6, in the first round of the District 2 Class 3A softball playoffs May 18 in Scranton. Dana Miller and Jessica Regan both drove in two runs for Prep.

Cavs eliminate Trojans

Anthony Osticco, Daniel Hinton, and Adrian Danchenko each scored three goals to lead Scranton Prep over North Pocono, 13-5, in the first round of the District 2 boys lacrosse playoffs May 13 in Scranton.

Mountaineers end Cavs season

Dallas defeated Scranton Prep, 15-12, in the semifinals of the District 2 boys lacrosse playoffs May 18 in Scranton. Adrian Danchenko led the Cavaliers with five goals. Anthony Osticco (3), Joe Campolieto (2), Chris O’Brien, and Joe Pettinato scored the other Prep goals.

Comets battle for doubles title

The top-seeded Abington Heights team of Rishi Mulloth-Brandon Ostrowski defeated their teammates, third seeded Bailey Harris-Jaime Calvo-Barrio, 6-4, 6-4, to win the District 2 Class 3A doubles championship.

Comets fall in state semis

Lower Merion defeated Abington Heights, 5-0, in the semifinals of the PIAA Class 3A Boys Team Tennis Championship May 16 in Hershey.

The top-seeded Scranton Prep team of Pete Kazmierczak-Tony Kutz defeated their teammates, third seeded Tarquin McGurrin-Jimmy Tressler, 7-5, 6-3, to win the District 2 Class 2A doubles championship.

Cavaliers ousted in state tourney

Galeton defeated Scranton Prep, 3-2, in the first round of the PIAA Class 3A Boys Team Tennis Championship May 12 in South Williamsport. Tony Kutz won his number two singles match, 6-2, 6-3, for Prep and the Cavaliers number one doubles team of Jack Habeeb-Jimmy Tressler won their match, 7-5, 6-1.
