A weekly look at former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins continuing their careers overseas:

Player: Philippe Dupuis

Position: Center

Age: 30

Played with WBS: 2012-13

Currently playing: Germany – Hamburg Freezers (Deutsche Eishockey Liga)

Dupuis was signed by Pittsburgh in the summer of 2012 to provide depth at forward. Prior to that, he had a 6-year pro career that included 116 NHL games with Colorado and Toronto. He spent all of the 2010-11 campaign with the Avalanche, appearing in 74 games and scoring six goals.

At the AHL level, Dupuis put up decent numbers but never scored more than 17 goals in a season. His best season was in 2008-09 with Lake Erie when he posted 17 goals and 46 points in 67 games. With the Penguins, however, Dupuis was unable to replicate his earlier success in the AHL.

Injuries limited Dupuis to just 34 games in 2012-13, and he scored just two goals and 11 points and didn’t appear in the postseason. That would be his last season in North America as Dupuis went to Germany in 2013. He’s been with Hamburg for the last three seasons and this year, Dupuis has 13 goals and 29 points in 44 games with the Freezers. One of his teammates with Hamburg is former Penguins goaltender Sebastien Caron.
