Rumors of monstrous muskie swimming in the lake at Frances Slocum State Park are true.

And there’s proof.

On Thursday, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission area fisheries manager Rob Wnuk and biologist Aaron Frey were checking trap nets at Frances Slocum Lake as part of their muskie survey. The nets yielded 12 muskies, all exceeding 34 inches in length. But none came close to the one Frey is holding in this photo.

The muskie measure 50.2 inches and weighed 45.3 pounds. Frey said the muskie was likely a fingerling the PFBC stocked in the lake some time ago, and they collected a scale sample to age the fish.

With the spring and summer fishing season coming up, anglers visiting Frances Slocum may want to hold on tight if they feel a tug at the end of their line.
