Fresh off a doubleheader sweep of Louisville, the RailRiders showed no fatigue on Thursday night at Louisville Slugger Field pounding out 12 hits, including three home runs to beat the Bats 9-1 as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre moved to a season-high six games over the .500 mark at 24-18.

Chris Parmelee was one of the hitting stars for SWB, slugging a pair of home runs, including a grand slam in the first inning that gave the team a 5-0 lead after one.

Parmelee, who finished 2 for 4 with five RBI, hit his fifth homer of the season in the fifth inning for the team’s ninth run.

In between, Nick Swisher (2 for 4) went deep in the fourth inning for his fourth of the season. Jake Cave, who ended 3 for 4, singled in a run before tripling later in the game. Catcher Gary Sanchez also had a productive day at the plate, going 3 for 5 and scoring a couple of runs.

On the mound, Eric Ruth made his second start this season for the RailRiders and held Louisville to one run on four hits as he won for the second time with the club. The only run he allowed came in the second inning on a double by Seth Meijas-Brean. After that hit, he didn’t allow another one until there was one out in the eighth and retired 13 in a row at one point.

The RailRiders begin a three-game series in Indianapolis on Friday night with lefty Dietrich Enns (1-0, 0.00) facing Indians lefty Kyle Lobstein (2-0, 4.79 with the Pirates).
