The Northeast Regional Coyote Hunt sponsored by District 9 of the Pennsylvania Trappers Association will be held Jan. 27 to Jan. 29.

A $2,000 grand prize will be awarded to the hunter with the heaviest coyote. Also, a $250 prize will be awarded for the heaviest coyote each day, and $100 will be awarded for all other coyotes turned in. The hunt area includes Bradford, Susquehanna, Wayne, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Pike, Luzerne and Sullivan counties.

Weigh-in will be held at the Triton Hose Co., 116 West Tioga St., Tunkhannock, from noon to 8 p.m. on Jan. 27 and Jan. 28, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 29. A weigh-in dinner, included in the entry fee, will be held for all entrants on Jan. 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. Dinner tickets will not be sold at the door. Registration fee is $30 by Jan. 10 and $35 after that. No registrations will be accepted after 10 p.m. on Jan. 24.

Huntington Mills United Sportsmen Camp 271 will hold its 15th annual Coyote Hunt beginning at 12 a.m. on Jan. 20 and concluding at 1 p.m. on Jan. 22. Registration fee is $25 with an optional $2 fee for the smallest coyote pool. Registrations must be post-marked no later than Jan. 18. There are no exceptions.

All hunters and all members in any party must be registered. Prizes will be awarded at 1 p.m. on Jan. 22. Coyotes may be taken statewide by hunting only. No trapping of any type is allowed. Pennsylvania Game Commission hunting regulations must be strictly adhered to. In case of a tie, the first coyote weighed in wins. One coyote per registered hunter qualifies for grand prizes. Coyotes must be weighed in on the day killed or have a body temperature of 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Any coyote deemed by the club to have been taken outside the rules of the hunt may be disqualified and all prize money forfeited.

There will be a $1,000 grand prize awarded to the hunter with the heaviest coyote and $500 to the second heaviest coyote. A $100 daily prize will be awarded for the heaviest coyote weighed in each day. There will be a $50 prize for all coyotes turned in during the hunt. Weigh-ins are at the United Sportsmen Camp at 251 Waterton Road, Huntington Mills, PA 18622. Weigh in times are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 20 and Jan. 21, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 22.
