Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins player Thomas Di Pauli (left) and Noxen resident Tony Hudak teamed up to harvest this gobbler last week in southern Luzerne County. Di Pauli said the gobbler came in silent after strutting in a field with several other birds. The gobbler weighed 19.3 pounds and had a 9-inch beard and 1-inch spurs. Hudak, who finished the Super Slam last year (harvesting a gobbler in each of the 49 states where wild turkeys are found) and was recently featured in the book “Turkey Men”, called the bird in while Di Pauli set up for the shot.
