Last Tuesday, the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Northeast Region Office hosted a program on bobcats and biologist Kevin Wenner discussed the wide variety of the feline’s prey species.
Add squirrels to the list.
Joseph Petcavage used a trail camera last July to capture this photo of a bobcat carrying a freshly-killed gray squirrel. Bobcats kill their prey by biting down on the neck and holding it until it dies, and judging by the way the cat is carrying the squirrel, the technique works.
The photo was taken in Tuscarora Township, Bradford County.
Capture anything interesting on your hand-held or trail camera? A nice buck, bear, coyote or any other wildlife? We’d love to see it. Each week, we’ll run photos from a reader’s trail camera on the Sunday Outdoors page. Email your photo, along with date and area it was taken (township is fine), and any other details to [email protected].
