The 2017 North Mountain Branch of Quality Deer Management Association’s Youth Outdoor Skills Camp was held on July 15 at the Sorber Mountain Cabin, with 72 youths ages 5-17 in attendance. The kids were split into six smaller groups of 10-15 each and participated in 10 activities that included pellet gun shooting, archery, fishing, trapping, bee keeping, tree stand climbing, turkey calling, habitat improvement, dog handling and fly fishing. Groups participated in the event included Quality Deer Management Association, National Wild Turkey Federation, Pennsylvania Fox and Coyote Hunters, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited and Trout Unlimited.
