LONG POND — Kyle Busch came back to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in grand style Saturday afternoon after winning the Pocono Mountains 150 at Pocono Raceway.

Busch led the most laps in his No. 51 Dollar General Toyota and held off several challenges from behind to pick up his fourth consecutive NASCAR win, dating back to the Sprint Cup Series race July 19 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“Everyone at Kyle Busch Motorsports did a really good job at producing some really good stuff, so I wanted to get back out there and get my feet wet and just kind of see where we were at,” Busch said.

Nicknamed Rowdy after the driver Rowdy Burns in the racing movie, “Days of Thunder”, Busch won the last three Sprint Cup Series races, including a win in last week’s Brickyard 400. His Truck Series driver, Erik Jones, started to reel in his team owner in the final laps before a caution came out for a piece of debris. On the race’s second-to-last restart, the two drivers were part of a four-wide battle for the lead until Austin Dillon made contact with Jones’ No. 4 truck to send him spinning down the Long Pond straightaway.

With two-time defending series champion Matt Crafton having troubles on the day, the 19-year-old Jones now sits within 16 points of new points leader Tyler Reddick, who finished third in the race.

“Solid day for us, overall,” Jones said after finishing 10th. “Pretty good points day with the 88 getting wrecked, so hopefully we made up some good points. We could’ve made up of more if we finished first or second, but we’ll take it.”

Jones immediately left the track after Saturday’s race to compete in the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Iowa Speedway that night.

Kevin Harvick, Reddick, Cameron Hayley and Johnny Satuer rounded out the top-five.

Cole on Top; Custer wins ARCA ModSpace 125

Seventeen year-old Cole Custer took the win in the second half of Saturday’s racing doubleheader at Pocono Raceway in the ARCA ModSpace 125.

Custer passed Mansfield native Matt Kurzejewski for the lead after a lap 33 restart and never looked back to pick up his first-career ARCA series victory.

“We just had a great car and was able to have some good restarts there and take the lead and pull away and finish off the race,” Custer said.

Custer drove for Sprint Cup Series driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s team in the race and made his ARCA debut on May 24 at New Jersey Motorsports Park where he won the pole and finished fifth.

He dodged a big wreck on the first lap of Saturday’s race after Kyle Weatherman lost control of his No. 22 Cunningham Motorsports Ford which collected Frank Kimmel, Tom Hessert and Grant Enfinger in the process.

Enfinger rebounded to finish runner-up and retain the series points lead, while Kurzejewski came home in third after leading 28 laps.
