BOSTON – In one of the wildest games of the season, Kevin Youkilis’ go-ahead homer sent the Boston Red Sox to a 19-17 win after the Texas Rangers fought back from a 10-run first inning Tuesday night that included a pair of three-run homers by David Ortiz.
Youkilis drove a three-run shot over the Green Monster in the eighth inning, bringing fans to their feet as he circled the bases with uncharacteristic speed.

Maddux rejoins Dodgers for another pennant race
Greg Maddux is back with the Los Angeles Dodgers for another stretch drive following a 120-mile trip up the California coast. The Dodgers reacquired Maddux from the San Diego Padres on Tuesday, getting the future Hall of Famer and cash for two minor leaguers to be named or cash.

Cardinals reliever Jason Isringhausen, twice demoted from the closer role this season, is likely out for the rest of the season with an elbow injury.

Ex-Yankees Irabu arrested for alleged assault
Former New York Yankees pitcher Hideki Irabu was arrested Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a bartender after drinking 20 mugs of beer, a police official said.
Irabu, 39, became angered after his credit card was rejected. He then allegedly pushed the bartender against the wall, pulled his hair and smashed at least nine liquor bottles
