Tunkhannock tied the game in the sixth to force extra innings, but Pittston Area rebounded with two runs in the top of the eighth to earn a 3-1 road win on Friday in WVC baseball action.
Dylan Spurlin went 2 for 4 and drove in two runs for the Patriots (3-6). Joe DeLucca (RBI), Kyle O’Fier (double) and Joe Stella also had two hits apiece. Tyler Jackson got the final four outs for the win.
Freshman Nick Reposa continued his impressive freshman season for the Tigers (2-6), going 3 for 4.
Berwick 3, Crestwood 2
The Bulldogs (4-5) finished with just two hits but drew eight walks, scoring three unearned runs in the third before holding on for the win. Jordan DiValerio went the distance for the win, striking out three. Austin Horsefield doubled and drove in a run.
James Graves went 2 for 3 with a double for the Comets (5-4).
Wyoming Area 8, Coughlin 2
The Warriors (7-1) finally broke through at the end of Coughlin’s incredible pitching week, scoring four in the sixth and four in the seventh. Josh Kopcza starred, finishing 4 for 4 with two RBI while going the distance on the mound for the win, striking out seven.
Chase Nowak followed up his perfect game by striking out eight and adding two singles for the Crusaders (3-6).
Holy Redeemer 16,
MMI Prep 5
The first-place Royals (9-1) burst for 16 runs on 13 hits in a five-inning victory. Cade Flanley (double, RBI) had three hits while Tim Cavanaugh (triple) and Sean Wills each had two hits and three RBI.
Mike Badamo, George Palermo, Ibby Bains and Nick Young all singled and drove in a run for the Preppers (1-8).
Northwest 16,
Wyoming Seminary 4
Brandon Reno (double, two RBI), Brian Hardiman (two RBI), Austin Ford (2-4, double, RBI) and Eric Evans (triple) all came through as the Rangers (7-3) won on the road.
Michael Oravic went 2 for 4 with an RBI while Sam Sweitzer (RBI) tripled for the Blue Knights (3-6).
