Franco Balbuena finished with a time of 15:44 as he claimed first overall and helped Coughlin bring home a win at a WVC cross country cluster meet held at Kirby Park. Crusaders teammate Mike Koury finished fourth overall with a time of 16:51.
Hazleton Area picked up three wins during the same meet, placing six runners in the top 10.
MMI Prep and Crestwood won two match ups while Pittston Area was victorious in one at Kirby Park.
Dallas cruises
Jack Zardecki, Jason Culp and Adam Borton finished first, second and third respectively as Dallas picked up wins over Berwick, Nanticoke and Northwest during a cluster meet at home. Zardecki finished with a time of 17:04 while Culp came in at 17:05 and Borton crossed at 17:20. Two other Dallas runners finished in the top 10.
Ty Fisher of Berwick finished fourth overall with a time of 17:37 as the Bulldogs picked up two wins. Wyoming Seminary and Wyoming Area also had two wins at the meet.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Patriots finish strong
Tara Johnson and Arianna Boccardi finished first and second with times of 18:39 and 19:25, respectively, which helped lead Pittston Area to three wins in a cluster meet held at Kirby Park. Mary Silinskie (21:21), Genny English (21:24) and Jessica Tighe (21:33) rounded out the top ten for the Patriots.
Mary Feverdale (19:46) and Casey Balogh (20:22) finished third and fourth while Katie Johnson (21:19) ended in sixth to help lead Hazleton Area at the meet.
Rome leads the way
Ally Rome finished with a time of 20:18 to claim first overall and help lead Dallas to three wins during a cluster meet at Dallas. Rebecca Balara finished second overall for the Mountaineers, just four seconds behind Rome.
Wyoming Seminary grabbed three wins at the same meet thanks in part to Tara Kupsky, who placed third overall with a time of 20:46.
Northwest was able to secure one win at the meet.
