WRIGHT TWP. — Williamsport dominated on both sides of the ball en route to a 47-13 win over Crestwood on Friday night.
The Millionaires amassed 399 total yards of offense and scored six touchdowns, while their stingy defense had three interceptions, including one for a touchdown.
Williamsport scored touchdowns on their first three possessions of the game. They kicked off the scoring party when junior quarterback, Isaiah Hankins, scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak at the goal line to give his squad a 7-0 lead with 5:23 left in the first quarter.
Hankins would score again on another goal-line quarterback sneak just two minutes later for a 14-0 lead. After a costly Comets fumble, Hankins, on the very next play, connected on a 45-yard touchdown strike to senior standout wideout Jerah Reeves.
Hankins hooked up for another touchdown pass to Reeves, this time a 5-yard score with only 2:59 left in the first half.
Crestwood already down 26-0 nearing halftime decided to replace starter Lance Blass and go with junior quarterback Mike Williams.
On only his fourth passing attempt of the game, Williams was intercepted by Williamsport’s junior running back Elliot Walker who took it 82 yards for touchdown to end the half.
Williamsport’s running game which was led by freshman tailback Treyson Potts (117 yards), Walker and Hankins, rushed for 271 yards in the game.
The lone bright spot in the game for Crestwood was their senior running back Tanner Kahlau. Kahlau playing in his final home game, ran for a game high 134 yards on 22 carries. He scored his team’s first points on a 1-yard goal line touchdown run with 6:55 left in the third quarter.
Charles Crews’ 6-3 Williamsport squad will look for a big home win next Friday against Wyoming Valley West to improve their chances at making the playoffs.
Crestwood (2-7) will wrap up their regular season on the road against Pottsville next week.
