Wyoming Valley West standout Chris Bleich is on track to become the Spartans’ highest-rated college prospect since Eugene Lewis.

Bleich debuted as ESPN’s No. 162 recruit in the country for the 2018 recruiting class on Thursday.

The 6-foot-6 offensive lineman verbally committed to Penn State in April. He briefly left Valley West to attend IMG Academy in Florida for the second semester of the 2015-16 school year but will again play for the Spartans in the fall.

Bleich will be a junior in 2016-17 and must wait until February 2018 to sign a letter of intent for college.

He is one of two commitments for the Nittany Lions for the 2018 class. The other is Harrisburg defensive lineman Micah Parsons, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 8 overall recruit by ESPN.

According to ESPN’s rankings, Parsons is the top-rated junior in Pennsylvania and Bleich would be No. 5.

Lewis, who played quarterback, receiver and safety for Valley West, finished his high school career as a four-star recruit and one of the top prospects in the state before signing with Penn State in 2012. He spent four years in Happy Valley before transferring to Oklahoma, where he will play this fall.
