HAWLEY — Wyoming Valley West committed nine errors as its season ended with a 10-3 loss to Wallenpaupack in the District 2-4 Class 4A softball playoffs Tuesday.

The Spartans led 3-2 entering the fourth, but Wallenpaupack scored three times in the fourth and five times in the fifth. The Buckhorns will play at Williamsport on Thursday.

Katie Rincavage had a double and RBI for Valley West. Colleen Cwalina doubled and singled. Peyton Boller added a double, while Jaden Belles and Mandy Zawadzki each had two singles.

Sabrina Boyd and Lauren Goetz had two hits each for Wallenpaupack, which scored nine unearned runs.

Blue Ridge 8, MMI Prep 0

Danielle Goff struck out 11 as Blue Ridge eliminated MMI Prep from the District 2 Class A playoffs.

Desiree Dinko, Alyssa Famalette and Caelyn McGran each singled for MMI. Dinko struck out three in five innings of work.

Hunter Vaughn and Taylor Hall had two hits each for Blue Ridge, which will play at Lackawanna Trail on Thursday in the semifinals.
