Defense was key for the Crestwood boys basketball team Thursday night, holding Pittston Area to just 10 points in the first half en route to a 55-38 win.

Kyle Gregaris led the way, scoring a game-high 14 points in a winning effort. Alex McAndrew scored a team-high 11 points for Pittston Area.

Meyers 62,

Lake-Lehman 33

Matt Dessoye scored a team-high 13 points in the win. Robbie Formola, Levaugn Soules and Ryan Gilgallon followed suit, each scoring 10 points.

Cole Spencer’s 15 points paced Lake-Lehman.

Hazleton 66,

Coughlin 44

Hazleton Area ran out to a 35-8 halftime lead en route to a 22-point win.

Charles Cobbs paced Coughlin with a game-high 20 points, while Jeffery Planutis led the way for Hazleton, scoring 12 points.

Tunkhannock 41,

MMI Prep 30

Tyler Faux and Sean Harder each reach double-digits for Tunkhannock, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Phillip Byriel scored a game-high 18 points for Meyers.

Dallas 57,

Valley West 52

A 21-point fourth quarter was the difference as Dallas edged Wyoming Valley West.

Jay Bittner scored 14 points for Dallas, while Ben Donahue, Alex Charlton and Nick Kocher all scored 10 points.

Aaron Austin scored 17 points to pace the Spartans.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Dallas 59,

Lackawanna Trail 20

Maddie Kelley led Dallas in a rout over Lackawanna Trail, scoring a game-high 16 points. Olivia Johnson hit three 3-pointers to finish with nine points for the Mountaineers.

Dallas built a 20-point led at the half, and was able to pull away in the final 24 minutes.

Pittston Area 55,

Crestwood 41

Alexa Noone’s 19 points was critical in a win over Crestwood on Wednesday. Both Leah Hodick and Taryn Ashby pitched in with 13-point efforts.

Julia Makowski led the way for Crestwood, scoring 14 points.

Nanticoke 74,

Wyoming Seminary 27

Riley Klepadlo’s 19 points was too much for Wyoming Seminary.

Klepadlo was one of three Trojans to make three 3-pointers. The others were Lisa Radziak and Kayla Aufiero.

Hazleton Area 80

The Cougars medley team of Megan Llewellyn, Marin O’Hara, Amy Collins, Alissa Plantukis finished first in the event at 1:52.97.

Cassie Longazel was first in diving with 181 points.

Paul Flowers finished first in the 200 free (1:57.77), the butterfly (58.79) and was part of the first-place 200 medley relay with Benjamin Sabatos, Jorge Moncayo, and Dylan Gould at 1:47.43.

Moncayo was first in the 200 IM (2:08.76) and 100 free at 49.56, while Sabatos was first in the 100 backstroke at 1:02.41.

Central Columbia 94,

Berwick 84

The Bulldogs team of Kylie Levan, Mia Doll, Sydney Lloyd and Becca Decker finished first in the 200 medley relay (2:03.16) and the 200 free relay (1:47.96).

Lloyd won the 200 (2:11.08) and 500 free (5:51.60) and Decker was first in the 50 free (26.48) and 100 free (57.80).
