Kayla Aufiero scored 22 points and the Nanticoke Area girls basketball team buried 10 3-point field goals as it rolled to a season-opening 10th consecutive victory Friday by rolling past Mid Valley, 68-24.

Aufiero hit two of her four 3-point field goals in the first half and scored seven points in the opening quarter to get the Trojanettes out to a 15-7 lead. She scored her final 12 points in the third quarter, as Nanticoke Area’s lead grew to 59-15.

Nanticoke Area’s defense held Mid Valley to single digits in each quarter and to 12 total points in each half.

Riley Klepadlo added 13 points in Nanticoke Area’s victory and Lisa Radziak buried three 3-point field goals.

Jenna Pacella scored 11 of Mid Valley’s 24 points.

Wyoming Area 66, GAR 33

Addison Orzel pulled down a whopping 26 rebounds and scored 19 points as the Warriors ran away from the Grenadiers.

Orzel scored 10 of her points in a second quarter that boosted a five-point Wyoming Area lead to 32-12 by halftime.

Sarah Holweg hit four 3-point field goals and poured in a game-high 27 points for the Warriors.

Khira Cook scored seven of her team-high nine points in the opening quarter to keep GAR close early.

Berwick 57, Northwest 45

Reese Mensinger scored 27 points and Roni Isenberg added 10 more as the Bulldogs remained unbeaten in WVC Division 2 play at 4-0.

Berwick overcame a one-point halftime deficit by out-scoring the Rangers 16-7 in the third quarter.

Brenna Babcock led Northwest with 19 points and Reagan Harrison added 10 during the defeat.

Meyers 45, Tunkhannock 35

Elise Fellerman scored five of her seven points in the final quarter, helping the Mohawks hold off Tunkhannock for their first WVC win of the season.

Erin Morris scored seven of her nine points in the first half to help the Mohawks take a three-point halftime lead and Amanda Gray scored six of her nine points in the third quarter as Meyers took a 31-27 lead into the final quarter.

Abby Ritz kept Tunkhannock close with a game-high 13 points, while Jessica Ell added 11 for the Tigers.
