Jake Griffin threw a no-hitter in 3 2/3 innings and struck out 10 as Kingston/Forty Fort slipped past Duryea 5-4 in the quarterfinals of the Tommy’s Pizza Corner 9-10 Tournament on Saturday.

Kingston/Forty Fort will face Mountain Top in the semifinals on Monday at 6 p.m.

Davis Motyka picked up the save, while John McLaughlin and Mason Sgarlat had two hits a piece for Kingston/Forty Fort.

Duryea’s Jeremy Cerasaro singled, drove in a run and pitched two scoreless innings.

Mountain Top 13, Nanticoke 3, 4inns.

Connor Murtha went 2 2/3 innings to pick up the win on the mound as Mountain Top defeated Nanticoke.

Owen Blavick had three runs scored in the win.

Nanticoke’s Seth Blockus doubled and scored a run.

Back Mountain American 9, Back Mountain National 4

Sam Barrouk tripled and Seth Berry and Cole Morio each singled in Back Mountain American’s win.

Zack Paczewski got the win on the mound.

Back Mountain National’s Lucas Schultz had two singles.

Back Mountain American advances to the semifinals to play Swoyersville at 8 p.m. on Monday.

Swoyersville 13, West Side 3 5 inn.

Pitcher Brad Gill recorded the win in Swoyersville’s victory.

West Side’s Mason Matello put in a strong pitching performance.

10-11 STATE SOFTBALL

Upper Providence 7, Pittston Area 6

Pittston Area was eliminated from the state tournament with its second loss at West Point Little League in Greensburg.

Pittston Area also fell on Friday 22-10 to Newberry.
