Wilkes defeated host Cabrini College 103.50-93.50 and fell to Widener University 162-39 at Cabrini, which combined with last month’s win over PSU-Altoona, marks the program’s first win streak since its rebirth last season.

The Lady Colonels are now 3-7 on the season, surpassing their win total from their first season last year.

Morgan Williams broke her own program record in the 1000 free, finishing in 12:28.14.

The relay team of Megan Evers, Danielle McCole, Cassandra Morey, and Amanda Lopez finished second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:49.52.

The relay team of Kate Thomas, Sarah Fasulka, Allie Aspey, and Amanda Stickles finished third in the 200 medley relay in 2:07.40.

Morey also finished third in the 50 free at 27.00 and fifth in the 100 fly at 1:10.23.

Scranton 167, Misericordia 80

Dani Blass won twice for Misericordia in a 167-80 loss at Scranton, Saturday.

Blass won the 100 fly and teamed with Marissa Gombosi, Taylor Grenier and Morgan Hanadel to win the 400 medley relay.

MEN’S SWIMMING

Wilkes go 0-2 at double dual

Wilkes fell to Cabrini College 131-49 and fell to Widener University 156-27 at Cabrini on Saturday afternoon.

The Colonels are now 1-9 on the season.

The relay team of Austin Paisley, Thurman Fogleman, Chase Osborne, and Christopher Bright finished third in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:40.06.

The relay team of Will Hauze, Matthew Nevers, Michael Henne, and Peter Feno finished fifth in the 200 medly relay with a time of 2:04.57. Jake Chielli finished fourth in the 100 free at 55.23, and seventh in the 200 free at 2:10.48.

Scranton 150, Misericordia 105

Despite multiple wins from Tom Scott, Joe Grzech and Pat O’Dell, Misericordia lost at Scranton, 150-105, Saturday.

Scott won the 200 free, 200 breaststroke and 200 fly while Grzech won the 100 back and 500 free. O’Dell won the 100 breaststroke and 200 back. Grzech, Scott, Nick Lucca and Matt Cullen teamed to win the 400 medley relay.

WRESTLING

King’s goes 1-2 at Gettysburg

King’s wrestling team went 1-2 at a quad meet at Gettysburg College on Saturday.

The Monarchs defeated Southern Virginia 49-6 but fell to host Gettysburg 24-13 and sixth-ranked Messiah College 40-9.

Howard Kilpatrick was a three-time winner for King’s at 157-pounds, earning an 8-7 win over Gettysburg, a pin against Southern Virginia, and a 8-1 decision against Messiah. Ryan Longenberger went 2-0 on the day, posting a pin and decision victory. Edward Merrill went 2-1 at 184 pounds with a pin and decision victory. James Wright was also 2-1 at 125-pounds with a pin and forfeit victory. Angelo Lussi was the third Monarch wrestler to post two wins, tallying a major decision and a forfeit win at 165.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Wilkes 60, Delaware Valley 57

Alec Wizar finished with 17 points, and Steve Stravinski, Connor Evans, and Zachary Brunner added 13 points each as Wilkes defeated the previously undefeated in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Delaware Valley University 60-57 on Saturday at the Marts Center.

The Colonels notched their first win in MAC Freedom play this season, improving to 1-3 and 6-9 overall.

Wizar led the way for the Colonels with 17 points and six rebounds. Evans added 13 points, Stravinski contributed 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds, and Brunner finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Manhattanville 87, Misericordia 77

Manhattanville broke open a close game late in the second half on the way to an 87-77 win over Misericordia in MAC Freedom men’s basketball action, Saturday at the Anderson Center.

Jason Kenny scored a team-high 20 points for the Cougars while Griffin Sponaugle had 17 points seven assists and six rebounds and Erik Kerns added 16 points.

Misericordia, 8-7 (2-2) will visit King’s on Wednesday.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Delaware Valley 65, Wilkes 45

Visiting Delaware Valley University saw four players reach double figures in a 65-45 victory over host Wilkes.

With the loss Wilkes falls to 2-12 overall and remains winless in league play at 0-4.

Emily Sutton led Wilkes with a career-high ten points and five rebounds. Missy Oertner added eight points off the bench while Haley Mesaros finished with seven points and four rebounds.

Wilkes posted a season-high 32 turnovers in the game, which Delaware Valley converted into 31 points.

Manhattanville 55, Misericordia 53

Misericordia’s furious fourth-quarter rally came up just short in a 55-53 loss to Manhattanville.

Justine Seely led the Cougars with 15 points and eight rebounds and Shannon Croasdale added 12 points eight rebounds.

Seely and Croasdale both made two free throws to pull MU within 51-44 with 5:07 to go and Forsyth found Croasdale driving the right side for a layup to cut it to 51-46 on the next possession.

Alexa Plitt’s pull-up jumper in the lane cut the margin to three, 51-48, with 3:34 left. After a Manhattanville basket, Japriya Carroll buried a 3-pointer from the left wing to get within 53-51 with 2:45 to play.

Seely tied with a pair of free throws with 2:02 remaining. Manhattanville scored the eventual game-winner with 1:45 to go and neither team scored the rest of the way.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre 67,

University of Maine Presque Isle 39

Penn State Wilkes-Barre improved to 9-2 on Saturday with a 67-39 win over The University of Maine Presque Isle.

Simone London had 15 points and Majeedah Nealy added 12.

TRACK

MU comes in 3rd at Ramapo College Season Opener

Reilly Wagner won the high jump (1.65m) as Misericordia came in third at the Ramapo College Season Opener, Friday evening at the Armory in New York.

Wagner also finished third in the long jump (5.09m), sixth in 60m hurdles (9.76), seventh in the 500m (1:25.16).

Amy Viti finished first in the 800m (2:16.44) and was a member of the winning 4×400 relay (4:02.80) with Melanie Fry, Kelty Fairchild and Katie Fairchild.

Bianca Bolton came in third in the 3000m (10:56.81) while Alexandria Miller finished fifth (11:26.13) and Sarah Ostroski finished seventh in the triple jump (10.29m).

Oniesha Clarke came in third in the 200m (25.93).

Sarah Wigg came in fifth in the shot put (10.63m) and was victorious in the weight throw (15.80m).

Mikael Hause broke his own school record (8:58.09) in the 3000m while finishing third as the Misericordia University men’s track team finished fifth at the Ramapo College Season Opener, Friday evening at the Armory in New York, New York.

Juwan Petties-Jackson set a school record (7.03) while finishing second in the 60m and finished sixth in the long jump (6.33m). Hause finished third in the mile (4:24.74) while Eric Deignan finished fifth (4:26.74).

Jonathan Buck won the 800m (1:57.60) while Deignan finished seventh (2:01.49) and Mike Harth finished second in the 400m (50.61). Jordan Lawson finished third in the triple jump (13.42m) while Tobi Olugbenga finished eighth (13.11m).
