SHIPPENSBURG — As his eyes scanned Seth Grove Stadium one final time, a strange thought came to Dominic Hockenbury as he was delighting in one more golden moment.

“I won’t be here again next year,” Hockenbury said. “This is one of the last runs in awhile where I’ll be able to lap the field.”

He has that method down to a science.

Lake-Lehman’s Hockenbury beat the final finishers around the track to win his third consecutive gold medal in the boys Class 2A 3,200 Saturday, challenging the state record before winding up just short of a new mark at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.
