Cole Kaiser hit the game-winning home run to lift Back Mountain National over Abington American, 7-6, in seven innings in a Section 5 10-11 baseball game on Friday.

Kaiser finished with two home runs and three RBI. Gary Weaver struck out eight and gave up no runs in 4 1/3 innings to earn the win. Nick Spencer chipped in with two hits, including a home run and 2 RBI, while Ryan Osipower, Gavin Adamski, Mike Cumbo, Cole Morio and Ethan Leone each had a hit.

Abington American’s Garrett Peitryka had two doubles and a run scored, while Noah McCarthy singled, doubled and had two runs and Brodie Robertson finished with a double and RBI.

Back Mountain National moves on to the championship game on Sunday at 6 p.m. at Back Mountain.

Section 5 10-11

Mountain Top 17, Carbondale 6

4 inns.

Trevor Dean and Joseph Moratori each singled to drive in four runs in the first inning as Moutain Top defeated Carbondale.

Dean finished a hit and an RBI and Moratori added two hits and 2 RBI. Ryan Covelens had a 3-run home run, 1 RBI and a double, while Grant Rose tripled with 3 RBI and Connor Murtha doubled with an RBI in the win.

Carbondale’s Favia Rivera finished with 2 RBI and a double, Logan Warmoth singled and Guy Muschow finished with two hits.

Mountain Top’s next game will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at Back Mountain.

Section 5 Jr. Little League

Back Mountain 13, Pittston 2

5 inns.

Lucas McGeehan’s solo home got Back Mountain’s offense rolling en route to a win over Pittston.

McGeehan also recorded a double, while Todd Phillips added two hits, including a triple and Frank Nockley had two hits, including a double and two RBI. Sam Nocito had a two-run double and Joe Walser recorded two hits and 2 RBI for Back Mountain.

Cooper Kelley picked up the win, giving up four hits and striking out four.

Back Mountain will play Dunmore at 10 a.m. at Dallas H.S. for the Section 5 championship. If Back Mountain wins, there will be a second game at Dallas at 5:30 p.m.

SOFTBALL

Section 5 10-11

Pittston Area 14, Northwest 2

4 inns.

Ava Serino pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts as Pittston Area topped Northwest.

Taylor Vaiera and Isabella Pisano each finished with two hits and two runs scored.

Pittston Area’s next game is Saturday at 1 p.m. at Old Forge.
