Tiffany Michalek scored the game-winning goal in overtime as Wyoming Valley West handed Dallas its first loss of the season in 2-1 overtime win in a girls soccer game on Thursday.

Alison Francis’ goal tied the game at 1-1 after Michalek put the Spartans on the board at 12:42.

The game stayed knotted through the entire second half.

Valley West goalkeepers Danielle Cook and Emma Grimes finished with 5 and 11 saves, respectively.

Dallas’ Rachel Nelligan recorded six saves.

Aubrey Mytych scored the game’s first two goals and assisted on the third as the Blue Knights broke a scoreless halftime deadlock by scoring three times in a 16-minute span of the second half.

Mytych gave Sem a 1-0 lead with a goal 4:49 into the second half, and after Victoria Rojas scored for Wallenpaupack to tie it, Mytych hit her second gaol with 17:28 to plat to put the Blue Knights ahead to stay. Alex Wesneski added an insurance goal for Sem off a feed from Mytych.

Hazleton Area 3,

Delaware Valley 1

Ariel Slowik scored twice in the final 12 minutes to break a 1-1 tie and lift the Cougars to a win.

Jill Buchman assisted on both goals. Slowik added a helper on a Taylor Buchman score in the first half while Emily Covert tallied for the Warriors.

Wallenpaupack 1,

Wyoming Area 0 (OT)

In a game played Wednesday, Alyssa Watson scored off an assist by Victoria Rojas with 3:40 remaining in overtime as Wallenpaupack pulled out a victory.

Katie Irving protected the shutout by making 14 saves.

Katie Wolfgang stopped 10 shots in goal for the Warriors.

Hazleton Area 0

The Comets earned a 25-20, 25-17, 25-20 sweep of the Cougars behind Ally Olzsyk (16 assists, six service points), Maria Ellis (11 service points, seven aces, eight digs) and Kristen Kania (18 service points, four aces).

Hazleton Area was topped by Jessica Cusatis (seven service points, one ace, 15 digs) and Cindy Gutierrez (five service points, one ace, eight digs, seven assists, four kills).

On the heels of a five-set win over state power Marian Catholic on Wednesday, the Royals swept the Preppers 25-8, 25-8, 25-8.

Skylar Osenkarski (13 kills), Brynn Kukoski (eight kills, 10 points, one dig), Amanda Curcio (six kills, eight service points, 20 assists, one block, three digs) and Julia Andrejko (one assist, nine digs) topped Redeemer.
