Coughlin offensive lineman Ryan Solt was the lone Wyoming Valley Conference representative on the Pennsylvania Football Writers 4A All-State team, which was announced Tuesday. The 6-foot-3 offensive lineman helped lead Coughlin to a No. 6 seed for the District 2 4A tournament.
The Class 6A All-State team was also announced Tuesday, with six Williamsport players making the team. Leading the way was quarterback Isaiah Hankins. The senior quarterback was responsible for 2,550 passing yards and 27 touchdowns as the Millionaires won their first District 4 title since 1995.
Running back Treyson Potts, tight end Jalen Jackson, offensive lineman Kurt Danneker, Elliot Walker and defensive lineman Ross Stebbins were the other five players honored.
Class 2A was the other team announced Tuesday, which saw Dunmore’s Nick Shoemaker make the list.
On Monday, Wyoming Valley West offensive lineman Chris Bliech was named to the 5A team, Nanticoke Area defensive lineman Justin Casey was named to the Class 3A All-Pennsylvania team.
Other District 2 players were named to the 3A team were Scranton Prep’s Kyle Polishan and Max Borgia.
Marian Catholic defensive lineman Kyle Plesh was named to the Class A all-state team.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Berwick 91,
Nanticoke 72
Berwick’s Sydney Lloyd and Mia Doll racked up four victories in a road meet at Natnicoke.
Llyod was a part of two first-place relays, in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay, and also finished first in the 200 and 500 free events. Doll swam on the first-place 200 medley and 400 free relays with Llyod, and also took home first-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM.
Nanticoke was paced by Deanna Wadzin, who finished first in the 100 fly and was a part of the first-place 200 free relay.
Pittston Area 114,
Wyoming Area 68
Both Erin Sense and Katrina Dillon walked away with a pair of individual wins for Pittston Area. Sense won the 200 IM and 100 fly while Dillon in the 200 and 500 free.
The Patriots won two of the three relays, with Wyoming Area only winning the 400 free.
Sydni Johnson won Wyoming Area’s lone individual race, finishing first in the 100 breaststroke.
BOYS SWIMMING
Berwick 89,
Nanticoke 58
Chris Michael lead Berwick to victory, finishing with four top times.
Michael took first place in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke and was a key member of the winning 400 free and 200 medley relay teams. Michael racked up the two lone individual victories for the Bulldogs.
Chris Cabonilas took home three wins for Nanticoke, coming in first in the 200 IM, 100 backstroke and the 200 free relay.
Wyoming Area 65,
Pittston Area 27
Seth White took home four wins for Wyoming Area. White swam to first-place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 500 free, and was part of first-place finishes in the 400 free relay and 200 medley relay.
Pittston Area’s Peter Fox picked up both first-, second- and third-place finishes. Fox won the 100 breaststroke, came in second in the 50 free and finished third in the 100 free.
