WRIGHT TWP. — Kyle Richards scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Crestwood boys basketball team to a 61-44 win over Wyoming Valley West in Wyoming Valley Conference action Wednesday night.

Lance Blass (13) and Kyle Gegaris (12) were also in double-digits for the Comets.

The Spartans were paced by Aaron Austin, who made a trio of 3-pointers en route to a 15-point performance.

The game was moved to Crestwood. The Feb. 14 rematch will now be at Wyoming Valley West.

Holy Redeemer 52,

Nanticoke 47

Luke Butczynski’s game-high 24 points weren’t enough as Holy Redeemer edged the Trojans thanks to efforts by James Kosak (10), Jason Stachkus (8) and Joey Judge (8). Fifteen of Butczynski’s 24 points came from the 3-point line.

Zach Cardone scored 11 points for Nanticoke.

Games postponed again

Four WVC games originally scheduled for Tuesday were postponed again Wednesday.

Dallas at Coughlin will be at 7:15 p.m. Saturday. Wyoming Area at MMI Prep was moved to Jan. 18. Berwick at Lake-Lehman will be played Jan. 19. Pittston Area at Hazleton Area wasn’t rescheduled.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Holy Redeemer 58,

Wyoming Seminary 52

Samantha Rajza led the way for the Royals, scoring a game-high 19 points. Julia Andrejko and Samantha Yencha both scored nine points.

Alex Wesneski was the lone Blue Knight to score in double-figures, putting up 10 points.

Four games postponed

Icy roadways Wednesday forced the postponement of four other WVC games.

Tunkhannock will visit Northwest at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, and Nanticoke will play at Meyers at 2:15 p.m. Saturday.

Wyoming Area will make up its game at Hanover Area on Jan. 21 and GAR will host Berwick on Jan. 25, with both slated for 7:15 start times.

Pittston Area 18

Tyler Shaud and Shane O’Rouke pinned their opponents to lead Crestwood past Pittston Area.

Ron Grevera defeated Pittston Area’s Josh McGilvary 10-3 int he a 152-pound bout.

Pittston Area was paced by Brandon Lopex and Tony DeMark, who both pinned their opponents.
