Crestwood grad Matt Wotherspoon has had a strong week for Double-A Trenton.

Appearing in two games this week, Wotherspoon pitched three innings of shutout baseball. The 25-year-old allowed two hits and a walk while striking out three. He dropped his ERA down to 2.45.

Wotherspoon picked up a hold in each appearance as the Thunder went on to beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in both games.

The Tunkhannock product hit his first home run of the season on Tuesday.

The eighth-inning solo shot helped deliver Double-A Akron an 8-6 win over the Reading Fightin Phils.

However, the solo shot has been Papi’s lone hit of the week, dropping his batting average to .225 on the season. He did work a pair of walks this week, one coming on Tuesday and the other on Thursday.

Tony Hernandez

The Hazleton grad pitched in 11 games, making six starts, and went 33.0 innings for the Gulf Coast League Yankees West. In his 11 games, the 6-foot-2 lefty registered a 5.73 ERA and 1.55 WHIP.

The 20-year-old has not pitched for a Yankees affiliate yet this season.
