Sam Dyer, Payden Montana and Megan Dalo were all three-time winners as Berwick moved into a first-place tie with a 90-55 victory over Nanticoke Area in a girls track and field meet at Berwick’s track on Friday.

The victory set up Wednesday’s showdown with fellow league unbeaten Lake-Lehman in a battle of 5-0 teams tied at the top of the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 in the next-to-last meet of the regular season at Berwick.

Dyer won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 runs, while Montana swept the throwing events by capturing the javelin, shot put and discus. Dalo won the triple jump and long jump and was on the winning 400-meter relay team.

Sierra Miedaner won the 100 hurdles and pole vault and Reese Mensinger placed first in the 200 dash and on the 400 relay to finish as double winners for the Bulldogs.

Nanticoke Area’s Amiah Lukowski won the 100 and 400 dashes.

Tunkhannock 19

Abby Zolner won three individual events as the Mountaineers moved to 4-0 on the season and set up a battle of WVC Division 1 unbeatens in their upcoming meet with 5-0 Pittston Area on Tuesday.

Zolner won both hurdles, along with the triple jump.

Wyoming Valley West 75,

Wyoming Area 74

Nina Dellarte set a school and track record and Foto Tsioles and Ashley Blannard were triple winners to take the Spartans to victory.

Dellarte won the 200 dash in a record-setting time of 25.8 seconds at Valley West’s Huber Stadium.

Tsioles won the 800 and 1,600 runs and was part of the winning 3,200 relay.

Blannard captured the long jump, triple jump and ran on the first-place 400 relay team.

Shelby Stackhouse won the 100 hurdles, pole vault and high jump for Wyoming Area.

Boys

Berwick 82, Nanticoke Area 68

Bao Le won the 110 hurdles, the 400-meter dash and ran on the winning 1,600 relay to spark the Bulldogs. Mitchell Martin won the 1,600 run and was on the winning 3,200 relay with Jonathon Morgan — who also finished as a double winner by picking up a second relay victory on the 1,600 team.

Dallas 82, Tunkhannock 68

Christian Roberts won in all four of his events and Jack Zardecki was a three-time winner as the Mountaineers edged the Tigers.

Roberts placed first in the 100, 200 and 400 dashes and was on the 1,600 relay team. Zardecki won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs and ran on the 3,200 relay.

Erik Bennett took first in the triple jump, long jump and ran on the winning 400 relay team for Tunkhannock.

Wyoming Valley West 84,

Wyoming Area 65

Mitchell Forgash emerged as a triple winner as the Spartans worked their way to a close victory.

Forgash finished first in the 400 dash and 800 run and was on the winning 3200 relay team.

Connor Mikovitch was a double winner for Valley West, winning the 200 dash and teaming for victory on the 400 relay.

Wyoming Area’s Minichello takes top eight finish

Wyoming Area competed while missing top thrower Marc Minichello, who participated in the prestigious Penn Relays on Friday in Philadelphia.

Minichello finished eighth in the high school boys javelin throw, finishing with a distance of 184-10.

BOYS TENNIS

Tunkhannock 3, MMI Prep 2

Avey Newhart (No. 2), Alex Greenip (No. 3) each recorded singles victories for the Tigers.

Alex Davis and Ethan Hofert won No. 1 doubles 6-3, 6-1.

Dallas 4, Berwick 1

Jon Toussaint and Alex Derome won in singles and the Mountaineers swept doubles play to take a match played Thursday.

BOYS LACROSSE

Scranton Prep 7, Dallas 4

Dallas was outscored 4-2 in the second half during a loss Scranton Prep.

Stone Mannello and Michael Starbuck each had a goal and an assist, while Josh Kalna and Nick Solinsky each scored a goal.

Corey McAndrew recorded 11 saves for the Mountaineers.

Delaware Valley 12,

Wyoming Seminary 9

Josh Balcarcel scored four goals and registered two assists to pace Delaware Valley.

Anton Mackey added three goals in the victory, while Riley Van Wie finished with two goals and an assist.

Wyoming Valley West 1

Tyler Klienbach had 13 kills, three blocks and seven service points in the Spartans’ 25-21, 23-25, 23-25, 22-25 loss.

Adam McCue finished 10 service points, one ace and seven digs and Donovan Gaffney had five kills and one block.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

King’s 6, FDU-Florham 3

King’s built a 6-1 lead through six innings en route to an important victory.

With the win King’s improved to 16-15 overall and 9-7 in the MAC Freedom Conference. The win enabled the Monarchs to remaining in third-place heading into the team’s doubleheader matchup against FDU Saturday at King’s. Manhattanville is 8-8 and Eastern is 7-9 with five league games remaining.

Chris Rebar led King’s by going 3 for 4 with a triple and two RBI. Christian Pack went 2 for 5 with two runs and a RBI, while Kyle Lupas was 2 for 5 with a RBI.

MEN’S LACROSSE

FDU-Florham 8, Wilkes 2

Visiting FDU-Florham outscored Wilkes University 8-2 in the second half en route to an 11-4 MAC Freedom victory.

Wilkes finished its 2017 season with a 4-11 overall record and a 1-5 MAC Freedom mark collecting the first win and league win since the program’s rebirth one season ago.
