Matt Wotherspoon continues to impress for Triple-A Norfolk.

The Crestwood grad pitched 1.2 innings of no-hit baseball on Thursday, in what was his lone outing of the week. Wotherspoon struck out a batter in a 2-1 loss to Durham.

The reliever has allowed just one hit and one run in 4.2 innings with the Tides.

Wotherspoon returns to PNC Field for the first time since the July 2 trade on Monday when the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders host Norfolk for a three-game set.

Mike Papi

The Tunkhannock grad didn’t play much this past week for Double-A Akron.

After sitting out the entire first-half of the week, Papi finally saw some game action on July 13. He went 1 for 4 with two strikeouts.

Papi did rebound on Friday, going 1 for 3 with a two-run home run in a 6-5 loss to Erie.

Sal Biasi

The Hazleton Area and Penn State alum made his first start for Rookie-Level Burlington on Friday.

Biasi pitched five innings of two-run baseball on one hit and two walks. The 21-year-old struck out a pair while not factoring in the decision. He’s sporting a 2.70 ERA in five professional appearances.

Tony Hernandez

The Hazleton Area grad struggled in July 12 relief appearance.

Hernandez took the loss, pitching two innings and allowing six runs on six hits for Gulf Coast League Yankees East. The 20-year-old took the loss in a 6-5 defeat against the Braves.

Jhordany Mezquita

The Hazleton resident made his second start for the Gulf Coast League Royals on Thursday. He threw three innings of one-hit baseball while walking one batter and striking out six.
