PGC makes drug arrest on Game Lands

A Honesdale man was charged with multiple drug and game lands regulations violations in connection with an incident that occurred at a state game lands parking lot in Lebanon Township, Wayne County, according to the Northeast Region Office of the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Sean Michael Brussell, 25, of Honesdale, was charged with four misdemeanor counts of possessing a controlled substance, 10 misdemeanor counts of possessing drug paraphernalia, and multiple summary game law violations. Wayne County Wildlife Conservation Officer James McCarthy filed charges on May 19 at the office of Magisterial District Judge Ronald Edwards, of Honesdale.

McCarthy was patrolling game lands along Shieldsboro Road on April 25 when he made contact with Brussell who was sitting in a pickup truck near the State Game Lands 159 shooting range. Brussell is alleged to have been in possession of multiple glassine bags containing a substance believed to be heroin and several items commonly used to prepare and inject illicit drugs.

“This incident occurred on the day of the Youth Spring Turkey Hunt while several young hunters and their mentors were enjoying a day in the field nearby,” Game Commission Northeast Region Law Enforcement Supervisor Mark Rutkowski said. “Our officers will not tolerate this type of activity on the game lands.”
