Miners Baseball will host its 5th annual baseball/softball holiday camp. The camp runs from Dec. 26, 27 and 28th from 9-12 each day and is open to boys and girls ages 7 through 14.Cost is $135.00, camp t-shirt included. Sibling discounts are available. Miners Baseball will be running winter training for boys and girls from ages 7-18 during the months of January thru March. The training will be conducted by high school and college coaches from the area. Players will be grouped according to ages. Misericordia University Baseball Winter Academy will run five consecutive Sundays beginning Jan. 13 and will include sessions in hitting, throwing mechanics/pitching, and pitching. Wilkes University will hold a Colonels Elite Baseball Prospect Program Dec. 16, Feb. 23 and May 12 from 6-7:15 p.m. at the Marts Center for students with graduating years from 2013-2016. Community Winter Sunday Basketball League for school teams will begin play on Sunday, Dec 2. There are two divisions, one for grade 5-6 boys and one for grade 5-6 girls. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will be holding their third annual Pens & Pins Charity Bowling Tournament on Sunday, Dec 2 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Chacko's Family Bowling Center in Wilkes-Barre. Penguins players and coaches will be chosen randomly to captain teams of fans in a two-game format. Registration fee is $50 per person or $200 for a team of five and includes two games of bowling, free shoe rental, pizza and soda and a commemorative 2012 Pens & Pins T-shirt.
