CAMPS/CLINICS


 



King's College will host two sessions of the Stars of Tomorrow prospect baseball camp on Sunday, Dec. 16 and Sunday, Jan. 13. Both camps will be held from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. each day. The camp is for players in grades 7-12, who have the interest and desire to play collegiate and/or professional baseball. Players will also be exposed to the college recruiting process. Cost is$60.00 per session. A registration form can be obtained online on the King's baseball team page at www.kingscollegeathletics.com. For additional registration, Coach Greeley can also be contacted by email at baseball@kings.edu or telephone at 592-7797. Early registration is recommended since session size is limited.



King's College women's lacrosse coach Laura Patton has announced the Lady Monarchs will be hosting a Winter Warm-Up Clinic on Saturday, Feb.16 in King's new Scandlon Gymnasium Recreation Center. Two sessions will be offered. The first will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and will be open to girls in grades 9-12. The second will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is open to girls in elementary and middle school. Cost is $30 per-participant if registration is paid before Jan. 31, 2013. Cost after Jan. 31 is $45 per-participant. Clinic tee-shirts will also be available for $10.00. For additional information, contact Coach Patton at 208-5900, extension 5443.



Misericordia University Baseball Winter Academy will run five consecutive Sundays beginning Jan. 13 and will include sessions in hitting, throwing mechanics/pitching and pitching. Penn State will hold a baseball clinic at Electric City Baseball & Softball Academy for players of all ages on Saturday, Jan 12 from 2-6 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 13 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Cost is $160 and limited to 40 campers. LEAGUES


 



Community Winter Sunday Basketball League for school teams will begin play on Sunday, Dec 2. There are two divisions, one for grade 5-6 boys and one for grade 5-6 girls. All games will be played at LCCC. Limited spaces remain for both divisions. For more information, call Curt at 817-2101 or Matt at 814-3306.


 



MEETINGS


 



Berwick Boys Basketball Boosters will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3 in the lobby of the gymnasium.



Hanover Area Boys Basketball Booster Club will meet on Monday,Dec. 3rdat Tubbies in Lee Park at 7pm.



Nanticoke Area Little League will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 at High School Cafe. Board members are to meet at 7 p.m.



Swoyersville Little League will meet Tuesday, Dec. 4th at 8pm. There will also be a regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 11th at 8pm.



Wyoming Valley CYC Junior Basketball Officials will meet Saturday, Dec. 1st at 10 a.m. The Junior Basketball Officials Club is open to boys and girls grade 7 - college. Participants have the opportunity to learn the skills and mechanics of basketball officiating. Members earn money officiating CYC league and tournament games. Instruction is by PIAA Officials and the program is free of charge.



Wyoming Valley West Softball Booster Club will have a meeting on Monday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. at the WVW Middle School. Parents of all players are encouraged to attend.



Wyoming Valley West Wrestling Booster Club will have a meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 4th at 7 p.m. at the middle school. Toy bingo tickets and donations can be dropped off at this time. Parents from all levels are encouraged to attend.


 



REGISTRATIONS/TRYOUTS


 



Rock Recreation Center is accepting registration applications for the 2013 Upward Basketball Season. The league is open to Girls and Boys Pre-K through 6th Grade. Early registration ends Saturday Dec. 1st. Player evaluation day and the final registration are both on Saturday, Dec. 8th. Practice begins the week of Jan. 2nd. Games begin Saturday, Jan. 19th and the final game is Saturday, March 16th. For more information contact The Rock Rec Center at 696-2769.



The Next Level, in conjunction with Team Diesel, will be offering a baseball focused strength and conditioning program starting Dec. 15. These will be ten, one hour sessions for 5 weeks. Cost is $125. Please call 704-6255 for more information.



 



UPCOMING EVENTS/OTHER


 



Crestwood Boys Basketball Booster Club will hold a Meet the Players Night at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 in the high school gym. After introductions, players will participate in games and competitions.



Nanticoke Area Basketball Booster Club will sponsor the annual Meet the Players Night this Friday, Nov. 30 beginning at 6:00 p.m in the High School Gym. This event features intrasquad scrimmages showcasing this season's Nanticoke Area Boys and Girls basketball teams from grade 7 through varsity. It's always a fun event and gives Trojan and Trojanette family and friends an early look at the teams. Everyone is invited and admission is free.



Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will hold their third annual Pens and Pins Charity Bowling Tournament Dec. 2 from 3-5 p.m. at Chacko's Family Bowling Center in Wilkes-Barre. Penguins players and coaches will be chosen randomly to captain teams of fans in a two-game format. Registration fee is $50 per person or $200 for a team of five and includes two games of bowling, free shoe rental, pizza and soda and a commemorative 2012 Pens and Pins T-shirt. All proceeds go to support Allied Services Integrated Health Services. To register, call 208-PENS.



Wyoming Valley West Wrestling Booster Club will hold its annual Toy Bingo on Saturday Dec. 8th at the VFW on Wyoming Ave, Kingston. Doors open at 12:00 p.m. and bingo starts at 1:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door $5.00 and refreshments will be sold.
