CAMPS/CLINICS


 



Maximum Impact Christmas Break Camp will run today and Friday, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for ages 7-12. Please call 822-1134 to reserve your spot.



Misericordia Baseball Winter Academy will run five consecutive Sundays beginning Jan. 13 and will include sessions in hitting, throwing mechanics/pitching, and pitching. It is open to players in grades first through eighth. Details and registration forms are available at athletics.misericordia.edu. Call 674-1868 for more information.



Miners Baseball Baseball/Softball Camp will be held today and Dec. 28 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. each day and is open to boys and girls ages 7-14. The cost is $135. Sibling discounts are available. The camp will be held at Sandlot Baseball Academy and will be directed by Joe Ross, Bill Zalweski, Brian Minich and Mike Guy. Miners Baseball Winter Training will be held for boys and girls from ages 7-18 during the months of January through March. The training will be conducted by high school and college coaches from the area. Players will be grouped according to ages. The training will be held at Riverfront Sports and Sandlot Baseball Academy. Applications can be found at www.scrantonminersbaseball.com or email scrantonminersbaseball@gmail.com.



Stan Waleski Holiday Basketball Camp will be held at the Greater Pittston YMCA today and Friday, Dec. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for boys and girls in grades 2 through 8. Interested players are invited to attend one or both camps. The camp stresses skills, fundamentals, team play, competitions, tournaments, awards and fun with all players receiving a camp certificate and t shirt. North East Tornadoes '04 Girls Soccer Team has several roster openings for eligible girls. Team is based in Plains, Luzerne County and trains/plays year round - locally as well as travel/club tournaments/leagues. Girls born between Aug. 2004 and July 2005 are eligible. Pace Setter Athletic Club is organizing an Open Adult Women's Basketball League at the Greater Pittston YMCA. Players from the ages of 18 and older (unlimited) are welcome. The league will be open to teams from the Greater Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Pittston and Hazleton areas. Back Mountain Youth Soccer will host an indoor Futsal/Soccer league running from Jan.11 through March for ages U6 to high school age at the Penn State Lehman Campus gym. FIFA futsal ball and rules will be used. Games will be played on weekends. All area intramural and travel teams are welcome. All area individual players seeking a team can sign up online as well. Meyers Junior High Basketball will hold a fundraiser today from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Riverside Café. Cost of admission is $15 and includes drinks and food. To make a donation, or if there are any questions, call Jim McGavin at 762-7117.



Pocono Seniors Sports and Recreation Group and the Locust Lake Village have set the first Ice Hole Golf Tournament for Jan. 27 at aa a.m. on Pines Lake in Locust Lake Village. This will be a nine-hole, scramble event with teams of four limited to three clubs each. The entry fee is $25. To register, visit the Locust Lake Village, Robert Christians restaurant, or call Bob Kasper at 646-6600 or Cindy at 646-3616 no later than Jan 17. There will be a Bloody Mary registration held at 10 a.m. with an 11 a.m. shotgun start. All participants are required to sign a liability waiver.
