CAMPS/CLINICS


 



Electric City Baseball & Softball Academy will hold its Annual MLB Scouts Winter Hitting League for boys and girls of all ages with the following instructors: Bobby Felmy (Giants), Matt Hyde (Yankees), Greg Legg (Phillies), Wayne Lydon (Blue Jays), Sean Moran (Cardinals) and Eric Valent (Phillies). Session one is on the following Sundays: Jan 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. or 4:45 p.m. 6:15 p.m. depending on age. Session two is the following Sundays: Feb. 3, 10, 17 and 24 from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. or 4:45 p.m. 6:15 p.m. depending on age. The league is imited to 40 campers per session. Cost is $150. King's College Baseball, along with current coach Jerry Greeley, a coach in the Baltimore Orioles organization, will host Jerry Greeley's Player Development Baseball Academy starting Jan. 27 and continuing through February in the new Scandlon Gymnasium Recreation Center. The academy offers numerous $10 specialty camps for players in grades K-12. Wilkes Free Family Football Clinic will be Sunday, Jan. 20 at the Wilkes University Center on Main (UCOM) from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. The clinic is for all those interested from ages 5-12. Wyoming Valley Laxerz will hold a second Lacrosse Clinic at the Greater Pittston YMCA on Sunday, Jan 20. Registration for the clinic will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the session will run from 10 p.m. until 11:30 a.m. Anyone who registered and attended the first clinic will not have to register again. Cost for each clinic is $20 a child with a family discount of $5 for each additional child. A $10 discount will be given to those who attended the first clinic in December.

The Pace Setter Athletic Club of Northeastern Pa. is currently organizing an Adult Open Women's Basketball League at the Greater Pittston YMCA . Duryea Little League will hold a monthly meeting on Sunday, Jan 6 at 7 p.m. at the VFW on Stephenson Street. Preparations for the upcoming season will be discussed. Signups for the upcoming season will be held on Jan 21,22,23,28 and 29 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Duryea Boro building located on Main Street.



Dupont Softball and Teeball will have an organizational meeting on Thursday, Jan 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Dupont Borough Building. All coaches are asked to attend. REGISTRATIONS/TRYOUTS


 






Dallas Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship can now be registered for. Participants aged 10-14 are invited to the local level of competition to be held at the Gate of Heaven Gymnasium, 40 Machell Avenue starting at noon, on Saturday, Jan. 12. All boys and girls will compete in their respective age and gender divisions. Participants are required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent. Knights of Columbus Council 302 Free Throw Championship will be held Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Wyoming Valley CYC at 7 p.m. Boys and girls aged 10-14 are eligible to participate. Registration and warm-ups begin at 6:45 p.m. Bring proof of age. For more information call 262-3873.



Knights of Columbus Pittston Council Free Throw Championship will be held Feb. 9 at the Seton Catholic Gymnasium starting at 9 a.m. Boys and girls aged 10-14 are eligible to participate. Luzerne Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship can now be registered for. Participants aged 10-14 must present proof of age and be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The contest will be held Saturday, Jan. 12 starting at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton gymnasium on Hughes Street in Swoyersville. For more information, call John Duesler at 288-1776.



Maximum Impact Sports Training is looking to fill roster spots for its 10u and 12 u Spring Baseball Travel Team. Roster spots are limited and to be filled by Jan 8. Call 822-1134 to schedule a free tryout evaluation.



Mountain Top Area Little League and Softball will be offering early registration for Managers/Coaches for the 2013 season. All players must provide 3 forms of proof of residency dated Feb 1, 2012-Feb. 1, 2013. All new players must provide a copy of birth certificate. Rock Solid Basketball at the Rock Rec Sports Complex, 340 Carverton Road, Trucksville, announces its tryout dates for the 2013 AAU Girls and Boys season. On Sunday, Jan. 6 and 20, girls in grades 9 and 10 will try out from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.; girls in 7th and 8th grades will try out from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m.; and girls in 5th and 6th grades will try out from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, Jan. 13 and 27, 2013, boys in grades 9 and 10 will try out from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.; boys in 7th and 8th grades will try out from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m.; and boys in 5th and 6th grade will try out from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. The tryout fee is $10 per player. Wilkes University Futsal Frenzy Soccer Tournament at Wilkes is accepting registrations. The tournament will be held Sunday, Jan. 13 with all games beginning at 10 a.m. at Wilkes University's UCOM building, found at 169 South Main St. The registration cost is $150 for team, additional teams from the same high school are $125.
