Electric City Baseball & Softball Academy will hold its Annual MLB Scouts Winter Hitting League for boys and girls of all ages with the following instructors: Bobby Felmy (Giants), Matt Hyde (Yankees), Greg Legg (Phillies), Wayne Lydon (Blue Jays), Sean Moran (Cardinals) and Eric Valent (Phillies). Session one is on the following Sundays: Jan. 13, 20 and 27 from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. or 4:45 p.m. 6:15 p.m. depending on age. Session two is the following Sundays: Feb. 3, 10, 17 and 24 from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. or 4:45 p.m. 6:15 p.m. depending on age. The league is limited to 40 campers per session. Cost is $150. King's College will host two sessions of the Stars of Tomorrow prospect baseball camp on Sunday, Jan. 13. Both camps will be held from noon to 4 p.m. each day. The camp is for players in grades 7-12, who have the interest and desire to play collegiate and/or professional baseball. Players will also be exposed to the college recruiting process. King's College Baseball, along with current coach Jerry Greeley, a coach in the Baltimore Orioles organization, will host Jerry Greeley's Player Development Baseball Academy starting Jan. 27 and continuing through February in the new Scandlon Gymnasium Recreation Center. The academy offers numerous $10 specialty camps for players in grades K-12. Misericordia Baseball Winter Academy will run five consecutive Sundays beginning Jan. 13 and will include sessions in hitting, throwing mechanics/pitching, and pitching. Penn State Baseball Clinic will be conducted by the division one coaching staff from Penn State University's main campus at the Electric City Baseball & Softball Academy for players of all ages on Saturday, Jan 12. from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 13 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Cost is $160 and limited to 40 campers. County Line Girls Softball League will have its kickoff meeting on Thursday, Jan.17 at 6:30pm in the Dupont Borough Building. All town and or team reps are asked to attend. Dupont Softball and Teeball will have an organizational meeting Thursday, Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Dupont Borough Building. All coaches are asked to attend. Hughestown Sports Club will meet on Sunday, Jan 13 at Granteeds in Pittston. The meeting begins at 2:30 p.m. Reservations for season tickets for next year will be taken and anyone interested in season tickets should attend the meeting or contact any club member. Duryea Little League will hold sign-ups for all Boys and Girls divisions on Jan 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Duryea Borough Building. The cost is $55 per player and $75 per family. Cost for Junior and Senior League players are separate and is $75 per player.

Knights of Columbus Council 12976 Free Throw Championship will be held Sunday, Jan 13 at the Kingston Recreational Center starting at 4:15 p.m. Registration and warm ups will begin at 4 p.m. All those interested between the ages of 10 and 14 must provide a birth certificate at the registration. Knights of Columbus Dallas Council Free Throw Championship can now be registered for. Participants aged 10-14 are invited to the local level of competition to be held at the Gate of Heaven Gymnasium, 40 Machell Avenue starting at noon, on Saturday, Jan. 12. All boys and girls will compete in their respective age and gender divisions. Participants are required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent. Knights of Columbus Council 302 Free Throw Championship will be held Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Wyoming Valley CYC at 7 p.m. Boys and girls aged 10-14 are eligible to participate. Registration and warm-ups begin at 6:45 p.m. Bring proof of age. For more information call 262-3873.

Knights of Columbus Pittston Council Free Throw Championship will be held Feb. 9 at the Seton Catholic Gymnasium starting at 9 a.m. Boys and girls aged 10-14 are eligible to participate. There is no cost to participate and participants are required to provide proof of age and written parental consent to compete. For more information call 815-4454.

Knights of Columbus Luzerne Council Free Throw Championship can now be registered for. Participants aged 10-14 must present proof of age and be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Mountain Top Area Little League and Softball will be offering early registration for Managers/Coaches for this season. Moosic Mets Baseball will be holding tryouts for players ages 8-17 at Electric City Baseball Academy 733 Davis St. Scranton, PA. Ages 8-11 will be held Sunday January 13 (6:30-8:30pm) and Wednesday January 16 (6-8pm). Ages 15-17 will be held Saturday January 19 (10am-12pm) and Wednesday January 23 (6-8pm). Ages 12-14 will be held Sunday January 20 (2-4pm) and Thursday January 24 (6-8pm). Players need only attend one of the two try-outs per age division. Cost is $10. Penn State Wilkes-Barre is currently accepting applications for the position of Head Men's Soccer Coach. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics. The qualified person will plan and direct team during all practices and games; recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes; emphasize academic success to student-athletes; supervise assistant coaches; and promote the soccer program. Evening and weekend hours will be required for practices and games. This is a part-time, fixed-term 2 position. Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of successful coaching and/or playing experience is required. Applicant must be at least 25 years old and capable of driving a 15 passenger van. The position is best fit for someone who would not have to relocate. The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
