Cartwright takes 17th

With 18% of the vote in, Cartwright has received 52,169, Cummings has received 25,180. The Times Leader is projecting Matt Cartwright as the winner in the 17th Congressional District in unofficial results, Cartwright, 51, of Moosic, has defeated Laureen Cummings, a 48 year old Democrat from Old Forge. The 17th District serves parts of Carbon, Monroe, Lackawanna, Luzerne and Northampton Counties and all of Schuylkill County. Cartwright, an attorney with the Munley, Munley & Cartwright Law Firm is expected to soon address the crowd gathered inside the Medallion Room at the Hilton Scranton and Conference Center.

Cartwright defeated 20 year incumbent U.S. rep Tim Holden, D-St. Clair in the April 24th democratic primary.
