Cougars earn sweep in bowling

HAZLETON – Dave Shutovich led the Hazleton Area boys bowling team with a high game of 268 and a series of 699 as the Cougars earned four out of four possible points and defeated Berwick 4-0 on Tuesday.

Stephen La Buda also recorded a high game of 202 with a 556 series, while Anthony Sidari bowled a 538 series. Aaron Allen added a 447 series, while Matt Young chipped in with a 432 series.

Alyssa Balicki earned high series honors with a 655 and bowled a high game, recording a 247, to lead Hazleton Area to a shutout victory over Berwick.

Shannon Smith added a 456 series, while Aleigha Sokolowski chipped in a 427 Series.

Kelly Maloney bowled a game high 179 for Hazleton Area. Miranda Rish and Miranda Sosar recorded a 152 and a 177, while Jamie Kulaga added a 212 game.
