Coughlin defeats Lehman in soccer

WILKES-BARRE – Justin Okun scored twice in the first half as Coughlin defeated Lake-Lehman 3-1 Thursday in Wyoming Valley Conference boys soccer.

Dave Marriggi had the other goal for the Crusaders, who improved to 9-0-1.

Chris Edkins scored for Lake-Lehman.

Crestwood 5, Wyoming Seminary 1

Crestwood held Wyoming Seminary to one goal on four shots as the Comets prevailed.

Marty Ryman passed out two assists for Crestwood, which had five different players score.

Lake-Lehman at Wyoming Area has been rescheduled for Thursday. Berwick at Coughlin will be played Oct. 15.

Rome sets new course record

In a meet held Wednesday, Regan Rome's new course record of 18:39 propelled Dallas to wins against Berwick 15-50, Northwest 15-49 amd Wyoming Valley West 19-40.

Alex Plant's second-place finish helped Wyoming Valley West to wins against Crestwood 19-44 and MMI 15-50.

Allie Kachel's seventh-place finish paced Crestwood in wins against Berwick 15-5 and Northwest 25-32.

Dallas sweeps; Bulldogs, Spartans win a pair

Dom DeLuca and Kyle Borland finished first and second, respectively, in Dallas' wins against Berwick 15-48, Northwest 19-42 and Wyoming Valley West 21-34 in a meet held Wednesday.

Will Butkiewicz and Bennett Williams finished in third and fourth for Valley West, which defeated Crestwood 18-43 and MMI 15-50.

Despite not placing a runner in the top 10, Berwick defeated Crestwood 26-33 and MMI 15-50.
